A history of the short-lived Ministry of Public Instruction, Quebec's first education ministry, established in 1867 and terminated in 1875. The author describes the effects on and attitude of Quebec's Protestant minority toward the ministry. A Ministry of Education was not established again in Quebec until 1964.
