From Traditional to Modern: Nursing Education in Transition in Anglophone Quebec
|
Abstract |
In 1970, schools of nursing in Quebec were transferred from hospitals to the educational system (CEGEPs), and from the authority of Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Education. The transfer confirmed a shift in philosophy from the idea of nursing 'service' to nursing 'education'. The author examines how well Anglophone teachers of nursing, hospital nursing staff, and nursing students adjusted to the new philosophy and the new nursing educational arena, seven years after the transfer.
