Abstract
The Morey House, on Dufferin Street in Sherbrooke, Quebec, was built in 1873 for the wealthy American-born merchant, Thomas S. Morey (1820-1886). Although the building's architect is unknown, the author assumes it was probably an American, given the Second Empire style of the house popular with New England architects in the 1870s. The Morey House was inhabited by Thomas Morey and his son Samuel until 1919, and then by Frederick Webster from 1919 to 1971. For almost a century, this house was owned by only two families, but then it changed owners six times between 1971 and 1976.
