Abstract |
A collection of the works of artist James Duncan (1806-1881), an Irish-born immigrant who moved to Montreal in 1830. According to the editors, Duncan was the first "British" artist to settle permanently in the city. Over his fifty-years in Montreal, Duncan documented in paintings and sketches the evolution and important events of the city and surrounding area. This art book was associated with an exhibition of Duncan's works at the McCord Stewart Museum in 2023.
