Abstract |
An examination of the performance group known as the Montreal Story Tellers, formed in 1970 and composed of Clark Blaise, John Metcalf, Hugh Hood, Ray Fraser and Ray Smith. The Montreal Story Tellers offered "prose on the podium", first in Montreal Catholic schools (Protestant schools wouldn't initially have them), then in CEGEPs and even the at the convention of the city's Protestant teachers. The Montreal Story Tellers, according to Clark Blaise, "succeeded in stuffing Canadian literature into every cranny in the curriculum."
