Biographical Dictionary of Architects in Canada, 1800-1950
|
Abstract |
Biographies of over 2,500 architects who lived and worked in Canada, as well as those architects who resided in the United States, Britain and elsewhere, and for whom it is possible to link their names with buildings constructed in this country. The focus of the website is on the activity and contribution of those who have described themselves, or who have advertised themselves to be, an architect, either amateur or professional. The author intentionally excludes those who worked in a related trade such as a builder, contractor, entrepreneur, carpenter, surveyor or mason. The author also lists every Canadian building of importance between 1800 and 1950 whose architect can be identified, together with essential information on the date of design, construction, alteration or demolition of the work. Website regularly updated and new material added by the author.
