Abstract |
The Theatre Royal, opened in 1825, was the first permanent theatre building in Montreal. Built by John Molson (1763-1836), the one thousand-seat building cost the brewer and entrepreneur $30,000. The theatre was demolished in 1844 and the site was used for the Bonsecours Market.
