Abstract |
An investigation of the conflicting European values in Quebec's political and legal arenas from 1774 and 1866 between the feudal French civil laws, which the author argues subordinated individual desire to higher morality, and the British legal principles espoused by the English-speaking merchant class which placed an overriding emphasis on individual autonomy in fostering entrepreneurship.
