Abstract |
Nineteenth-century scientist Sir John William Dawson (1820-1899), Principal of McGill University, criticized Darwin's theory of natural selection and adhered to the rigid association of design with special creation, and conceived evolution strictly in its designless, Darwinian form. However, the author points out, in his later years, Dawson relaxed his anti-evolutionist stand and considered possible terms of reconciliation between evolution and natural theology.
