Examines the career and context of Emmanuel Briffa (1875–1955), a Maltese-born immigrant who decorated over 100 Canadian theaters in the 1920s and 1930s. His cinema designs in Quebec included the Louis XVI style design for Montreal's Rialto Theatre, Snowdon Theatre, Seville Theatre, Cinema V, and York Theatre, as well as the Granada Theatre in Sherbrooke.
