Abstract |
The Montreal Park and Island Railway Company was incorporated in 1885, but it was not until 1894 that it actually came into operation. Under its act of incorporation by the provincial government, the company was empowered "to build a steam, electric or otherwise operated railway from points in the City of Montreal to summit of Mount Royal Park and to the various municipalities on Montreal Island..." In 1911 it was consolidated with other companies to form the Montreal Tramways Company.
