Abstract |
The author maps the changing network of large Canadian corporations following the Second World War. During this period, Montreal declined and Toronto increased as the principal economic metropolis in Canada. In 1946, Montreal was the slightly favoured locale for head offices in Canada, having thirty-three compared to thirty-one for Toronto. In 1976, Toronto had forty-six head offices, twenty more than Montreal.
