| Abstract |
Americans Bert and Fannie Cook exemplified small-town entrepreneurs affected by emerging technology at the turn of the twentieth century. In 1903, they combined motion pictures with their own talents as entertainers to found the Cook and Harris High Class Moving Picture Company, which presented shows in rural communities of upstate New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Quebec.
