| Abstract |
Accounts of three medical centres in Montreal that existed in the mid-nineteenth century. St. Patrick's Hospital existed from 1850 to 1862; St. Lawrence School of Medicine was established in 1851 and closed in 1852; and the Hôtel-Dieu was founded in 1645. In 1996 the Hôtel-Dieu became part of the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM), Montreal's French-language superhospital.
