Abstract |
George Jehoshaphat Mountain (1789-1863) was the Anglican bishop of the extended Diocese of Quebec from 1836 to 1863. The author outlines a biography of Mountain and his political (Tory) and religious (High Anglican) views and prejudices. Notwithstanding the title of this article, the author devotes only two pages to Mountain's arduous travels throughout the diocese, which extended from eastern Quebec to present-day Manitoba.
