Abstract |
The Royal Vic was established in 1893 through the financial contributions of Scottish-born Montrealers Donald Smith and George Stephen. They each put up half of the $500,000 to build the hospital. English-speaking Montrealers later donated money to build extensions to the hospital, associated with McGill University's School of Medicine. Today it is part of Montreal's McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).
