Abstract |
Sir John Abbott (1821-1896) was a lawyer, McGill law professor, Montreal mayor, Senator and one of the shortest serving Prime Ministers of Canada. Born in St. Andrews East (now St-André) in Argenteuil County, he was Canada’s first Canadian-born Prime Minister, serving from June 16, 1891 to November 24, 1892.
