A history of Grosse Île, Quebec, which was a quarantine station for newly arrived immigrants from 1832 to 1937, discussing inspection procedure, cholera and typhus epidemics, and waves of immigrants. Today, it is a national historic site, especially commemorating the thousands of Irish immigrants who died and were buried on the island in the 1830s and 1840s. The author's book is aimed at a juvenile audience.
