Abstract |
The Irish-born Rose Henderson (1871-1937), social reformer, feminist and peace activist, was appointed in 1912 as Probation Officer for Montreal's Juvenile Court. She was forced to resign the position in 1919 because of her socialist and anti-capitalist views and writings. She then worked to mobilize women to vote for labour candidates, and unsuccessfully ran for Parliament in Montreal in 1921. In 1929, Henderson moved to Toronto.
