A study of Thomas D'Arcy McGee's "The Mental Outfit of the New Dominion", an essay read before the Montreal Literary Club on November 4, 1867. In the essay, McGee (1825-1868) surveyed Canadian literary culture at the birth of the new Canadian state and suggested a program for a national literature.
