|
| Abstract |
A debate between the authors on whether it is in Anglophone Quebec’s best interests to support the “yes” side or the “no” side in a referendum on Quebec sovereignty. Topics covered are the following: some distinctive characteristics of Quebec's anglophone minority; the "minority-status political identity" of Quebec anglophones; political identity and its roots in language and culture; referendum scenarios - what's at stake for Quebec's Anglophone minority?; a "yes" vote on full Quebec independence; a "no" vote on full Quebec independence; cancellation or postponement of the referendum; a referendum on an option other than full independence; the new Quebec nationalism; community and allegiance among Anglophones; Anglophones and the new nationalism; and, the Anglophone community after separation.
