Abstract |
McGill University-educated Sir William Osler (1849-1919) was the most famous physician in the English-speaking world at the turn of the twentieth century. After earning his medical degree at McGill, Osler taught there for ten years before moving on to universities in the United States and then England. Beginning in his student days, Osler was an avid book collector, especially books relating to the history of medicine and science. He bequeathed most of his valuable collection to McGill University.
