Abstract |
A brief history of McGill's Royal Victoria College and how women's education in nineteenth century Canada was viewed. Specific reference is made to the writings of McGill economics professor and noted humorist, Stephen Leacock. According to the author, Leacock "endorsed prevailing stereotypes of women, quite blatantly, and...he took a lot of cheap shots at intellectual females."
