Language Policy and the Political Organization of Territory: A Canadian Dilemma
|
Abstract |
Includes information on the idea of bilingual districts proposed in the 1969 federal Official Languages Act. The author points out that in spite of the recommendations of two commissions, no bilingual districts were designated in Canada at the time of the writing of the article. Elements that tended to prevent the application of this concept are analysed, and an alternative form of application to accommodate the act is suggested.
