Abstract |
Montreal's Theatre Royal, opened in 1825, was the first theatre in Canada dedicated exclusively to the performing arts, and above all to the theatre. Erected on St-Paul Street on the site of present-day Bonsecours market, and financed by John Molson (1763-1836), it was a 1,000 seat Georgian-style playhouse.
