Abstract |
The Sun Life Assurance Company was founded by Mathew Hamilton Gault in Montreal in 1865. In 1978 the company moved its headquarters from Montreal to Toronto. The author focuses on the life of Thomas Bassett Macaulay (1860-1942), who joined Sun Life at the age of 17 and moved up from actuary to managing director, to Secretary (1874) to President (1889). He held the position of President for twenty years, until his retirement.
