Abstract |
An examination of the membership of the Beaver Hall Group, Montreal's first association of modern artists, which existed from 1920 to 1923. Most art historians focus primarily on the female members of the group, but the author points out that the male members were equally important to both the group and to fostering modern art in Montreal in the early decades of the twentieth century.
