The Montreal Hunt Club was founded in 1826 by officers of the British garrison stationed in Montreal. By 1867 it had become a club associated with the city's financial upper class. Today, it is the oldest North American hunt club in continuous existence. The author oulines the history of the club and its relations with local farmers.
