Abstract |
Includes a brief account of Brown Chamberlain (1827-1897), a Conservative Member of Parliament for Missisquoi County in the Eastern Townships, and his brother-in-law John Lowe (1824-1913)who in 1854 became the sole owners and co-editors of the Montreal Gazette. In May 1867 Chamberlin and Lowe sold the newspaper to a new entity, the Montreal Printing and Publishing Company, which was in fact the principal investment of the firm of Chamberlin and Lowe.
