| Abstract |
Professional actors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, who immigrated to Canada after World War II, organized a theatre-group in Montreal in order to provide fellow compatriots with the culture and language of their mother countries. The “Deutsches Theater Montreal” had been a member of La Poudrière international theatre for approximately twenty years before it became independent in 1979 and moved to the Centaur Theatre. This thesis analyses the different stages in the development of the ensemble to 1997.
