Abstract |
W.D. Lighthall (1857-1954) was a lawyer, historian, civic politician, archaeologist, novelist, poet and ardent British imperialist. He was a Westmount municipal councillor and served as mayor of that city from 1900 to 1903. He helped establish the Union of Canadian Municipalities. He was also a member and president of the Canadian Authors' Association; a member of the Art Association of Montreal and of the International Congress of Philosophy; vice-president of the Canadian Historical Association; and a member and honorary president of the Antiquarian Society of Montreal.
