Abstract |
The history of the establishment of the Episcopal (Anglican) religion in Montreal. The first Anglican church in the city built specifically as Christ Church was opened on Notre Dame Street in 1814, although an Anglican ministry first began in the city in 1760. The present Christ Church Cathedral on Saint Catherine Street and Union avenue was completed in 1859 and consecrated in 1867. The neo-Gothic structure was designed by British architect Frank Wills.
