Montreal : Merging Cultural Politics and Metropolitan/Regional Governance
|
Abstract |
The author argues that attempts to improve Montreal’s city centre since the 1960s have focused on state intervention in working-class housing development and improved tax collection, while trying to maintain a distinct Québécois identity in spite of accelerating immigration and the expansion of the city limits to include an English-speaking constituency.
