Back to Beer...and Hockey: The Story of Eric Molson
|
Abstract |
Montreal's Molson Brewery, founded in 1786 by John Molson, has over the years been synonymous with beer, hockey, and philanthropy. A family-run business for seven generations, few realize how close the Molson's came in recent years to losing control of the enterprise. The author explores the details of the life and work of Eric Molson (b. 1937), who not only saved the company, but positioned it to thrive as a global brewery into the twenty-first century. The author traces Eric Molson's evolution from a young brewmaster in 1960, captivated by the chemistry of beer-making, to chairman of Molson's Brewery from 1988 to 2005. Following Molson's merger with Coors in 2005 to form Molson Coors, Eric Molson served as chairman of the new company from 2005 to his retirement in May 2009.
