Abstract |
Shortly after Montreal businessman Peter Redpath’s election to McGill University’s Board of Governors in 1864, he began to donate books to the University library. Among this collection are what is known as the “Redpath Tracts,” some 307 volumes of British political tracts and pamphlets covering the period from 1632 to 1860. After Redpath’s death in 1894, his wife, Grace, augmented the original donation in 1901 and 1903.
