Abstract |
The American-born printer Nahum Mower (1779?-1830)immigrated to Montreal in 1807 where he became the owner and editor of the "Canadian Courant and Montreal Advertiser" newspaper. In 1815 he became the publisher of "The Canadian Inspector" newspaper, and in June 1823 started the monthly magazine, "The Canadian Magazine and Literary Repository." He also managed to build up a prosperous book printing business, especially on Protestant moral and religious matters.
