Abstract |
An examination of the transformation of the image of the poet in different generations. The author examines how the Jewish press portrays three Montreal poets of three successive generations: A.M. Klein (1909-1972) was seen as the Jewish poet; Irving Layton (1912-2006) was seen as the Canadian Jewish poet; and Leonard Cohen (1934-2016) is portrayed as the spiritual guru.
