Abstract |
The author points out that ten years after the Quiet Revolution, sociologists were asking themselves whether there had not been a simple change of guard and no real modification of the social structure of Quebec. The author analyzed a transformations that he believed was the result of the Quiet Revolution, namely the practice of sport. More precisely, he sought to verify to what extent this period in Quebec history coincides with the redefinition of the relations between French-speaking and the English-speaking Quebecers with regard to amateur sports during the decade 1963-1973. The author concludes that by the 1970s, not only had Francophones taken control of Quebec sports associations, but they also acquired an unparalleled predominance, both from the point of view of the quantity of the participants and from the point of view of the quality of the performances achieved.
