Peter and Grace Redpath: Collectors and Benefactors
|
Abstract |
Peter Redpath (1821-1894) and his wife, Grace Wood Redpath (1816-1907), were Canada’s first major benefactors of libraries and museums and among the country’s first benefactors of higher education. McGill University’s Redpath Library and Redpath Museum buildings are reminders of their contributions to that Montreal institution. The Redpath Library was the first specifically designed library building in Quebec.
