Title |
Rural Land Use Change: A Study of the Gatineau Valley of Quebec
|
Abstract |
Rural land use patterns on the southern margin of the Canadian Shield have evolved dramatically over the period of recorded settlement. The author studied agriculture, lumbering and recreational land use from the point of view of the permanent rural inhabitants of the Gatineau Valley region, making particular reference to changes up to the 1970s. Her conclusion was that the most rapidly expanding rural activity in the area was recreation, and that agriculture was on the decline.
