Abstract
The American-born Wilder Penfield (1891-1976) immigrated to Montreal in 1928 to teach at McGill University and became the city's first neurosurgeon. In 1934, Penfield founded and became the first director of the Montreal Neurological Institute and its associated Montreal Neurological Hospital.
