Abstract |
The Douglas Mental Health University Institute was founded by Alfred Perry and a group of Protestant clergy and Montreal Anglophone citizens on July 19, 1881. It was originally known as the Protestant Hospital for the Insane, later re-named the Verdun Protestant Hospital, then the Douglas Hospital, and in 2006, the Douglas Mental Health University Institute. It is a teaching hospital affiliated with McGill University.
