Abstract
The history of the Grosse Île quarantine station. The island in the St. Lawrence below Quebec City is identified with Irish North Americans because it became the burial site of thousands of Irish immigrants in the 1830s and 1840s. The author describes the "grandes épidémies" in Quebec between 1832 and 1860, brought to the colony by the "l'émigration britannique."
