Abstract |
Two Irish cousins with identical names, Dennis ("Red") McCarthy and Dennis ("Black") McCarthy, built their houses near each other in St. Colomban in 1830 or 1840. Red McCarthy's house burnt down in the early 1930s. Black McCarthy's house is now a local heritage site owned by the Société d'histoire de la Rivière du Nord.
