Abstract |
The author's paternal grandfather, the Birmingham, England-born Frederick Thomas Wilkins, met his wife, Léa Emilie Therrien of Bedford, Quebec, in Montreal at a tourist lodge located on Beaver Hall Hill in 1901. They married the following year. Based on articles in the 1901 editions of the Montreal Star and La Presse, the author describes the major (and minor) day-by-day, month-by-month events in Montreal the year his grandparents courted.
