Abstract
The Scottish-born Alexander Mathieson (1795-1870) was one of the most prominent nineteenth century Canadian Presbyterian ministers. Mathieson arrived in Montreal in 1826 and, with one interruption, ministered at St. Andrew's Church (now the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul) from his arrival to his death. Mathieson was known as "the father of the Church of Scotland in Canada." The book also contains a history of Montreal's St. Peter Street Presbyterian Church, written by Mathieson in 1832.
