Abstract
John Henry Robinson Molson (1826-1897) was the favoured grandson of the founder of Montreal’s Molson Brewery. He inherited the brewery (land, premises and equipment) upon John Molson’s death in 1836, although his father and uncles initially ran it as part of the Molson empire that included a foundry, a shipyard and a line of steamships on the St. Lawrence. On His Way in the World is the diary that John H.R.Molson started when he was fourteen, the last summer of his youth. In September of that year, he began his apprenticeship at the brewery.
