'Il ne parle qu’un fort mauvais français'. La France et le Québec anglophone dans les années de la Révolution tranquille

Abstract |
The author notes that the history of France-Canada relations has mostly been written through the relations between Francophones - and especially through France-Quebec relations. However, the author points out, if the Quiet Revolution allowed a secular Quebec Francophone elite to consolidate and to conduct a true para-diplomacy, it did not completely erase the Anglophone "stranglehold" on certain parts of the provincial society. He contends that it is a fact known even to the Quai d'Orsay that there were links between France and Anglo-Quebecers. In characterising these links, the author emphasizes that the construction of Franco-Quebec relations does not rest exclusively on Quebec’s French fact.
