Abstract
The Dutch-born Samuel Johannes Holland (1728-1801) was a British military officer, engineer and surveyor, who participated in the Conquest of New France and settled in Quebec, working as a surveyor, politician and land owner. Among the many areas he surveyed for the colonial government was the Townships of Lower Canada and Upper Canada.
