Title
Les pionniers britanniques de New Richmond
Abstract
The first English-speaking settlers in the town of New Richmond, Gaspé, were two Scots named McMartin and McLaren. Little is known of them. They were followed by two brothers, John and George Duthie, both natives of Aberdeen, Scotland, who moved to New Richmond in 1776. The author outlines the history of other Anglophone arrivals to New Richmond, including Captain Azariah Pritchard, an American Loyalist; and William Cuthbert and John A. Campbell, of Scottish descent, both from Prince Edward Island.
